North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim, sent a message to residents who will celebrate Idulfitri 1446 Hijri in their hometown.

He urged residents to be careful when leaving their homes or going back to their hometowns, considering the potential for crime and fire to occur when the house is empty.

"Residents must be more careful before leaving their homes," he expressed, Thursday (3/27).

He explained they could ask for help from neighbors or the local neighborhood association (RT/RW) who are not traveling back to their hometown to entrust their house and vehicles.

"Even, those who want to take homecoming are also allowed to leave their vehicles at the offices of urban villages and sub-districts," he expressed.

He explained it is also necessary to pay attention to the electrical installation in the house. Do not let electronic goods connected to the electricity, and separate the gas cylinder from the regulator. This is important to prevent fires when the house is left empty.

"Hopefully, all of you who take homecoming can leave home safely and peacefully upon your return," he hoped.

He added that during the Eid homecoming, the urban village and sub-district heads also need to assign duties for their personnel to monitor the conditions in the residents' neighborhoods.

"I ask the officers to monitor the current conditions to create a conducive environment," he asserted.

Koja Sub-district Head, Samsul Rizal Khadafi uttered residents who take homecoming can leave their valuables and vehicles at the urban village and sub-district offices. This is free of charge.

"This will be effective from March 28 to April 7, 2025. Simply attach a photocopy of your ID card and phone number," he explained.

He added the office could accommodate 20 cars and 100 motorcbikes. The authorities were also assigned duty shifts for officers, including Satpol PP, Transportation Agency (Dishub), and sub-district PJLP.

"Insya Allah (God willing), it will be safe because there will be officers guarding and monitoring the location. They will also continue to monitor the current environmental conditions," he said.
